A Layered Study
The preliminary study was literally built in layers: Saÿen combined tempera and pencil with printed paper on cardboard. About one or two years later, he executed a larger final version on wood – so this image is not merely a preparatory work, but an experiment in collage and painting in its own right.

The story behind the motif

Canvas print of The Thundershower by H. Lyman Saÿen. Saÿen was an American scientist and artist. A pioneer in the design of x-ray tubes, he received patents for several of his inventions during his lifetime. As an artist, he distinguished himself with his beautiful abstract works. Among other things, he was trained by Henri Matisse in Paris during the early 20th century.

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
