One Work, Three Titles
This work has changed identity in catalogues over time. At a retrospective in New York in 1948 it was called The Red Shawl, and when shown at a gallery in 1984 it was titled Seated Nude from the Rear. The National Gallery of Art now records it under a considerably shorter title.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with the fantastic painting Nude, created in 1901 by the American artist William Merritt Chase.

Chase made his name primarily as a portrait painter, but also with genre pictures and landscapes. He also worked as an etcher.

In the beautiful image we see the back panel of a naked, seated person with a white and orange colored cloth wrapped over the lower part of the body. Chase has painted the background in brown tones and the visible brushstrokes are effective for the painting.

We deliver worldwide and always offer free shipping! Depending on the country you are shipping to, delivery may involve certain customs duties and taxes – no customs duties or taxes apply to deliveries within the EU or Norway.

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
