A Different Name for Decades
In the National Gallery of Art’s catalogues, the painting long went by the name *Vase of Chrysanthemums*: it was called this from 1942 to 1968. When it was shown at the seventh Impressionist exhibition in Paris in 1882, however, its title was *Fleurs de topinambour* – Jerusalem artichoke flowers.
