Fifteen Years for a Mountain
It all began with a train sketch after an Easter skiing trip in 1899. Harald Sohlberg then returned to Rondane, took photographs for reference and worked on the motif for fifteen years before the final painting was completed in 1914. One of Norway’s most famous landscapes thus emerged slowly, in many versions.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with the painting Winter Night in Rondane , also known as Winter Night in Fjellene, by Harald Sohlberg.

Harald Sohlberg was a Norwegian neo-romantic artist. In the picture we see the Norwegian mountains on a winter night. Harald sketched the work after a ski trip in Rondane National Park in 1899 but painted the iconic work we see in the picture only 15 years later. In 1995 , Winter Night in Rondane was named Norway's national painting.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
