Nationalmuseum reads Vid Siljan as a late stage in Zorn’s bathing motif: whereas the earlier bodies more often functioned as parts of nature’s play of light, the staging here is more clearly directed towards a male viewer. The painting is signed 1905 and was acquired by the museum as early as 1909.
