A beautiful drawing with the heraldic coat of arms for the province of Uppland from the 19th century.
Uppland's regional coat of arms is a national apple made of gold. The coat of arms was created for Gustav Vasa's funeral in 1560 and symbolizes spiritual and worldly power. Royalty has always had a strong connection to Uppland. The first kings of Sweden ruled here.
Uppland, which is one of Sweden's most historically and culturally significant landscapes, contains parts of Stockholm County and cities such as Uppsala, Sigtuna, Enköping, Bålsta, Sigtuna, Norrtälje. Uppsala is one of Sweden's oldest cities and home to Uppsala University, founded in 1477. Uppsala was also the seat of pre-Christian religious activity and later an important church center. The landscape is known for its many runestones and historical monuments.
The text above the coat of arms reads: "Upland's Arms". At the bottom left it says: "Sweden's National and Country Coat of Arms. Established by the Royal Majesty. After drawings by Prof. M. AD. Hildebrandt in Berlin. Published by Carl Arvid Klingspor."
