Poster with a poster for the Nordic Games in 1901. The illustration was created by the Swedish artist Ernst Nikolaus Küsel (1873-1942).
The 1901 Nordic Games was the first edition of the Nordic Games, an event for several winter sports open to athletes from all countries. The event was held in Stockholm, and although the games were open, they were dominated by Swedish athletes and teams.
Many sports that are no longer very widely practiced were included among the branches. Among the cross-country skiing disciplines at Lindarängen, there was, among other things, cross-country skiing after reindeer. They also competed in sports that are not typical winter sports, such as fencing.
