The story behind the motif

Alfons Maria Mucha, also known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech graphic artist. Mucha lived in Paris during the Art Nouveau period and is best known for his theater posters, such as those for Sarah Bernhardt, the most famous actress in Paris at the time. He created paintings, book illustrations, and designs for carpets, jewelry, and theater sets in the style known as the Mucha style.
