Alexandre-François Desportes (1661–1743) was a French painter, known for his realistic and detailed paintings of animals. He was a leading exponent of French Baroque animal painting and was particularly appreciated for his still lifes and hunting motifs. Desportes was also a court painter to the French royal family and his works often reflected the noble lifestyle and their relationship with hunting and nature.
