The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful illustration "The days of the week" from Elsa Beskow's children's book Saga of the year which was first published in 1927. The book describes days of the week and seasons depicted through children and everyday chores.
The illustration shows a girl doing various chores on a farm - she milks cows, churns butter, bakes, sells cheese and goes to church. Around the middle is a verse that describes what she does every day from Monday to Sunday.
Elsa Beskow was a Swedish author and illustrator (1874–1953), known for his beloved children's books and richly detailed illustrations.
