A European Image Collaboration
The original was created through an international collaboration in the 1750s: Georg Dionysius Ehret painted it, one of the Haid brothers transferred it to copperplate, and the physician Christoph Jacob Trew published it in his botanical masterpiece Plantae selectae. The image was thus part of an early European chain of knowledge linking art, printmaking and botany.
