Poster with the motif of a track guard at the national border in 1955. The work as a track guard was a profession characterized by great responsibility. Every morning, the track guards set out along the cold railway tracks, even before the sun had risen. During the winter months, they faced challenges such as blizzards, which could leave large blocks of snow in their tracks. The rangers worked around the clock to keep the railway open and safe for traffic, sometimes alone in the remote terrain.
Photography Railway guard, Riksgränsen 1955 shows one of those days with heavy snowfall and low temperature. You can see how the track guard is covered in snow and how the storm makes it difficult to see the remaining parts of the railway.
