The story behind the motif
The famous waterfall in Bad Gastein, Austria in 1900. At this time, Bad Gastein was not a ski resort and the first lifts only opened in 1947.
Bad Gastein is a famous health resort because of the hot thermal water found in various springs around the resort. Already in the 13th century, people started bathing in these healing springs and even today people enjoy a warm thermal bath after a long day on the ski slope.
