The story behind the motif
Poster with an absolutely fantastic snapshot of the Lotsutkiken at Vinga and two small children who have picked flowers. Vinga is a lighthouse in the Gothenburg archipelago and the photograph was taken in 1948.
Vinga appears in many Swedish songs and books. Not least in songs by Evert Taube, who grew up in Vinga, where his father was a quartermaster. The house they lived in is now a museum.
A shaft-hole ax has been found on Vinga, which testifies that there have been people on the island since at least 4,000 years ago. Written sources also claim that the island has been Swedish for a very long time.
