The story behind the motif

Posters with motifs from John Bauer's famous painting Tuvstarr and Skutt in the Forest from 1913. Princess Tuvstarr rides the elk bull Skutt in the forest. The moon shines in the dark sky.

John Bauer is known for his fairy tale motifs with trolls and princesses and he has had a great influence on Swedish folklore and storytelling. The painting was an illustration for the Tale of the moose bull Skutt and the little princess Tuvstarr by Helge Kjellin.
