The story behind the motif
Poster with a motif of Rörstrand's porcelain factory at Karlbergssjön, painted by artist Eric Hallström in 1918. Rörstrand is a Swedish porcelain brand dating back to 1726 and is considered Europe's second oldest porcelain brand after the German Meissen . The production originally took place at Rörstrand Castle in Vasastan in Stockholm. At that time the company was called "det Swenske Porcelainsvärket". Despite the name, it would take until the 19th century before real porcelain began to be fired at Rörstrand. Until then, only earthenware was produced.
