The story behind the motif

A beautiful drawing with the heraldic coat of arms for the province of Skåne from the 19th century. The weapon features a red grappling head against a gold shield.

Skåne is Sweden's southernmost province and has a rich history that stretches from ancient settlements to being a thriving center for trade and agriculture. Throughout its history, Skåne has been the site of many important historical events, including battles and treaties between Denmark and Sweden.

Today Skåne is known for its fertile soils and as Sweden's agricultural center. Larger cities such as Malmö, Lund and Helsingborg play an important role in both the regional and national economy, with Malmö as a dynamic multicultural city and Lund as a historic university city.

The text above the coat of arms reads: "Crest of Skåne". At the bottom left it says: "Sweden's National and Country Coat of Arms. Established by the Royal Majesty. After drawings by Prof. M. AD. Hildebrandt in Berlin. Published by Carl Arvid Klingspor."
