The story behind the motif

Poster with the painting The Entrance to Stockholm by Axel Lindman from 1885. In the background we see the Skeppsbron, the Great Church and the many other beautiful buildings in Old Town. In the focus of the picture we see a schooner moored at the quay at probably Södermalm, if not further out at Danviken or Kvarnholmen.

The 1880s in Sweden were marked by Industrialization and were one of Stockholm's most expansive periods ever. Trade via shipping was, as before, very important.
