Peace Was New
The product information dates the photograph to 1946—peace had been won, but everyday life was still governed by shortages. In the latter part of the 1940s, butter, meat, sugar and washing powder were among the goods rationed in Sweden, while coffee, tea and cocoa were rationed again from 1947. The sense of summer freedom therefore belongs to a period of transition.
