Thirteen days after the invasion
When KG Kristofferson took this photograph on 22 April 1940, just thirteen days had passed since Nazi Germany invaded Denmark and Norway. Sweden responded with general mobilisation; by the turn of April and May, 330,000 men had been called up. The war had therefore suddenly come very close to Stockholm, even in a country that maintained its neutrality.
