The story behind the motif

During the 19th century, the Pater Noster archipelago off the coast of Marstrand in Bohuslän, Sweden, was an important area for shipping. The archipelago was known for its dramatic cliffs and the challenging sailing in the area.

Marstrand was during this time a strategic location with a significant maritime presence, and the Pater Noster archipelago played an important role in the navigation and safety of ships sailing along the Swedish west coast.
