The story behind the motif

Poster with an old picture from Gamla Stan in Stockholm in 1946. The actors Karl-Arne Holmsten and Irene Söderblom smoke between recordings of the Swedish feature film Hotell Kåkbrinken, which premiered in December of the same year. The sun is going down, which creates effective light contrasts. The actors are dressed in period clothes typical of the 40s.
