The story behind the motif
The historic Grand Hotel on Södra Blasieholmen in Stockholm at the turn of the century. The picture was taken in 1901 from Kungsträdgården and shows typical city life of the time with horses, people and steamboats at the stream quay.
The Grand Hotel was founded in 1874 by the Frenchman Jean-François Régis Cadier and opened at the same time as the Grand Hotel in Oslo. Today, the Grand Hotel is owned by the Wallenberg family via the investment company Investor.
