The story behind the motif

Poster with an illustration from the year 1895 marketing AB De Laval's steam turbine and turbine pump in Stockholm, Sweden. The poster is a color lithograph, printed by Kunstdruck Kaufmann in Berlin and gives an insight into the industrial development of the time.

The illustration shows a working man standing next to a steam turbine - which De Laval was famous for developing and manufacturing. The design of the poster is typical of the late 19th century with a mixture of text and illustration in a decorative, and the style is influenced by the art nouveau and art nouveau of the time,
