The story behind the motif

Poster with the painting "Angler hunting" painted by Nils von Höpken (1832–1901), a Swedish artist known for his marines and landscapes.

This painting, "Ånglustjakt" depicts a beautiful lakeside with a steamboat moving through a calm sea, where smoke rises from the boat's chimney and is reflected on the mirror-like surface of the water. In the background, some rocky islands and sailboats can be seen in the distance, creating a calm and harmonious atmosphere.

Nils von Höpken was educated at the Art Academy in Stockholm and also studied in Germany and France. His works became popular during the 19th century and he is considered one of the foremost in Swedish maritime art.
