The story behind the motif
In the picture we see racing driver Per Victor Widengren pushing his Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 "Monza" in training before the international motor races at Solvalla in October 1935. The car model was nicknamed "Monza" after an early model won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in 1931 .
The car model was a successful racing car with four consecutive victories at the legendary 24-hour race Le Mans as well as wins at the Mille Miglia and the 24-hour Spa Francorchamps, among others.
Today (2021), an Alfa Romeo Monza in good condition is valued at over SEK 100 million at auction.
