AIK’s First Address
Four years before this photograph, Biblioteksgatan 8 became AIK’s birthplace. There, brothers Isidor and Paul Behrens gathered nine sports enthusiasts for an interim meeting on 15 February 1891; the association was formally founded at the same address the following week. That small gathering marked the beginning of one of Sweden’s best-known sports clubs.

The story behind the motif

Photo from 1895 showing an old wooden building at Biblioteksgatan 8 in Stockholm. Today, Biblioteksgatan is one of Stockholm's most fashionable shopping streets where many international brands have their stores. At number 8 there is today the restaurant Pas d'Art and a Burberry store.
