When winter was a cure
The poster marketed more than outdoor life. In its own words, Norway is called winter’s “sanatorium of Europe”, and the appeal is directed as much at health-seekers and the “invalids” of the day as at tourists and sportsmen. The winter journey was thus sold as a form of climate cure.

The story behind the motif

Poster with an old travel poster and advertisement for Norway from 1907 by the Norwegian Winter Tourist Association.

On the poster we see, among other things, the text: "Norway in Winter - The country for the sportsman, the tourist, the seeker after health, and the invalid. Agreeable temperature"

Further down there is information about various winter sports such as skiing, skating and tobogganing.
