When bicycle advertising became poster art
In 1896, two American trends converged: poster fever and the bicycle boom. William H. Bradley’s work for the Overman Wheel Company, which manufactured Victor bicycles, became his most extensive and significant commission for a bicycle maker. The poster was printed as a colour lithograph in Boston, at the height of advertising’s emergence as an art form in its own right.
