The story behind the motif
Poster with a vintage photograph on one portrait of Fridtjof Nansen, taken in 1896 by the firm L. Szacinski. The picture shows Nansen dressed in a light suit with a high collar and a hat, turned slightly to the side with a serious and focused expression.
The photograph was taken during the time when he was already known as a polar researcher, after the noted Fram expedition in the Arctic (1893–1896). The portrait conveys a young but determined explorer who would become one of Norway's most prominent polar explorers.
Frame not included.
