The brothers never saw the edition
When this plate was published in the 1929 folio, the youngest of the von Wright brothers had been dead for 23 years. The edition became a posthumous masterpiece: 364 colour plates, almost twice as many as in the first edition of 1828–1838, now with text by the zoologist Einar Lönnberg.
