A bird work spanning a century
The original belonged to the second edition of Svenska fåglar, published from 1927 to 1929 with text by the zoologist Einar Lönnberg. It brought together bird images by three von Wright brothers – a work whose first edition had begun appearing as early as 1828, in parts with hand-coloured lithographs.

The story behind the motif

Poster with a beautiful illustration of a mallard from 1929 . The illustration was drawn by the von Wright brothers and published in the book Svenska Fåglar Efter Naturen Och På Sten Ritad . In the picture we see, among other things, the text Anas platyrhynchos - Latin for the name of the species .
