The Sister Variety That Pollinated
Boston Pine came from the same batch of seedlings as Hovey’s Seedling in 1834, but was not introduced until 1845. Around Boston, it was then grown mainly as a polliniser for its famous sister variety – an early example of how strawberry fields had to be planned to produce a crop.
