A book that could not keep up
Henriette Sjöberg worked on plums for the large project Svenska kulturväxter, which was intended to bring together around 600 colour plates of cultivated plants. Plant breeding advanced so quickly, however, that the survey was outdated before it was finished – and the project was abandoned with approximately 200 images still undone.

The story behind the motif

Poster with a vintage illustration of The plum from the early 20th century. Plums are small to medium-sized fruits that come from the plum tree, a member of the genus Prunus in the Rosaceae family. These fruits come in a variety of colors, including blue, purple, red, green and yellow, and they also vary in taste and texture depending on the variety.
