When Avenyn Reached Its Finale
The year this image was taken, Kungsportsavenyn was extended all the way to Götaplatsen ahead of Gothenburg’s jubilee exhibition. The bridge, inaugurated in 1901 on the site of the old city gate, thereby became the beginning of a continuous route towards the city’s new cultural centre.

An incredibly beautiful snapshot of Gothenburg and Kungsportsbron in 1923. A calmness lies over the city, far from what reality looks like here today.
