Before Gustaf Adolf took up show jumping, he had already spent four successful years as a steeplechase rider—a considerably more dangerous discipline. He then changed focus, collected around 60 prizes between 1929 and 1938, and won the 1936 trials for the Berlin Olympics.

The story behind the motif

Poster with Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf (1906-1947), Swedish hereditary prince who trains horse jumping here in the 1930s. Gustaf Adolf was the father of our current Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf but died in a plane crash when Carl Gustaf was only nine months old. Gustaf Adolf was a skilled horseman.
