Before the Traffic Machine
The year the picture was taken, Stockholm City Council approved the redevelopment that would turn Slussen into a grade-separated traffic interchange. The background was the so-called Slussen misery: traffic across the bridges had almost octupled between 1918 and 1930. The new complex was inaugurated in 1935.
